Affordable Prom Dresses - High
Style Without High Price Tags
Just because you are going to prom is no reason to break the bank.
You can find some very nice affordable prom dresses if you know how to
shop and where to look.
One thing you can consider is borrowing a prom dress from a friend.
Prom dresses from last year are very similar to those worn this year,
especially if your friend wore a “Cinderella” style dress with very
full skirts and a tight bodice. These dresses are still “in” for 2008
as they were two years ago. Even if your friend is not exactly your
size, you can offer to buy the dress and have it altered.
Don't be afraid to buy a pre-owned prom dress. Try searching in a vintage clothing store for a prom dress.
Because so many of the prom dresses this year look like formals worn
in the 1930s and 1950s, you may be able to get away with an actual
vintage dress from that era. People many decades ago tended to be
smaller in the waist as well as height, so again, this may have to be
altered. Some of the more elegant vintage clothing store that sell
only quality merchandise are a bit pricy, but not nearly as much as
buying a brand new dress. You can get alterations at your local tailor
pretty cheap and be set to go.
If you do not want to go second hand to get a dress for the prom,
check out the dresses at department stores like J.C. Penney or
Dillards. J.C. Penney has all of the
latest styles and some of the best affordable prom dresses around. You
can dress up your look so that you do not look like you are wearing
the same dress as others by wearing a different wrap or jewelry.
Another option is to check out the bridal stores for bridesmaids
dresses. Every once in a while, someone cancels a wedding or a
bridesmaid drops out. Stores are often stuck with bridesmaids dresses,
some of which may be suitable for prom.
Still another way to
buy affordable prom dresses is to look online. There are many
different bargains to be had online and you may even find someone who
actually makes dresses and sells them in this manner. Leave no stone
unturned when looking for the perfect prom dress to suit both your
style and your budget.
The prom dress styles for 2008 range from short, slinky dresses to
long formals, although most young women choose to go formal to the
prom. Formal dresses can be quite costly, so finding affordable prom
dresses can be a little tricky if you are looking for a brand new dress. You
might be better off wearing a second hand dress as no one need know
that you borrowed it or bought it second hand, and you can save quite
a bit of money. You can generally get a better quality dress second
hand for a lot less money than you would pay for a cheap quality dress
in the store.
Affordable prom dresses are everywhere - online shops, large
department stores, second hand shops, vintage
shops and even the closet of some of your friends. Just because you
are going to prom is no reason to empty your bank account. Make sure
the dress looks good on you and get ready to have a good time!
