For many of you who are going to your prom this year it will be your
first formal date. Most young men wear tuxedos and young women wear
formal dresses. The prom is usually held right before high school
graduation and signifies that you are now becoming an adult and need
to start acting and thinking like one.
Some of these tips are common sense, but it doesn't hurt to commit
them to memory to prevent any issues or problems from coming up before
the big night. Some tips for prom date include the following:

No drinking and driving. Each year, many young people sadly do not
make it home from the prom. They drink too much and end up getting
into an accident and getting killed. Each year, the newspapers tell
sad tales of kids who did not make it home from prom. Make sure that
you do not drink and drive when going to your prom, no matter how you
are pressured.

Make reservations for dinner. If you are like most couples, you will be going out to dinner
after the prom. Make sure that you make reservations or you might end
up at Applebees. Prom is usually held on a Friday evening and many
restaurants book up early on the weekends, so make reservations early.
Keep in mind that you will be wearing formal attire and go to a place
where you will not stand out too much, but have fun just the same.

Flowers should match the dress. A young woman should buy a boutonniere
for her date which is a flower that will be attached with a pin to his
lapel. A young man should buy flowers for his date that match her
dress. Most young women do not wear the traditional corsage that pins
onto the dress these days as the wrist corsage has replaced this
awkward flower that could detract from the dress. Another option for
flowers is a nosegay, which is a small bouquet the young woman can
carry.

Remember your manners. Although you may act rough in high school and
your girlfriend is the center on the basketball team, young men should
act like gentlemen during prom and young women should act like ladies.
Young men should open the door for their date instead of hopping in
the car ahead of her. Young women should wait for their date to escort
them into the dance. These may seem like antiquated notions, but they
still work for a formal evening out.

Take a camera. Many young people are taking disposable cameras to the
prom so they can grab some pictures. Your parents will most likely
want to see some photos of the dance and you will want to retain these
photos for posterity. Make sure you take a disposable camera.

Ladies should remember to get an evening bag to keep essentials in.
Young men should keep their wallet and keys in their jacket pocket.
Young men should be wearing a tuxedo to the prom and the young women
should be wearing formal attire or at least dressy clothes such as
suit and tie for the guys and a nice ensemble for the ladies.

If you decide to take a limousine to the dance, make sure that you
share it with other couples. The cost can be split many different ways
and save you quite a bit of money. Make sure that you tip the driver
of the limousine after the prom.
The prom is one of the most magical nights of your life. This is a
night that you will most likely remember forever. By following the
above tips for prom date, you’ll be able to relax and have a great
time at your senior prom.
